Ode to Muffin You came into our lives after a two year wait Lint on your face, climbing over the gate We took you home, your favorite place You guarded it well, ready to chase You got into things once in awhile Surgeries, vet bills, always ended with a smile You loved the park, to run and play Often looking back for us, making sure not to stray As you grew older, you loved your sleep On your back or curled up, breathing deep Toward the end you rarely left your bed But never tired of a scratch on the head Your love for us was never in doubt Oh how we miss you and that beautiful snout We remember now that gorgeous face The eyes got cloudy yet full of grace We feel good knowing pain you were never in And are comforted in hoping to see you again!
